Customer: Themis Labs, India
The challenge: Automated feeding of tablet press. Mr. Ratnakar Shirali of Themis Labs was looking for a partner for the new facility at Ambernath. The solution required 2 different powders to be transferred pneumatically, to 2 hoppers of a high speed tablet press. Sometimes, the product had very low percentage of active ingredient, and in varying densities. Moreover, the transfer rate was extremely high. The most important aspect was to ensure that no ingredient separation takes place during conveying.
Solution Provider: Azo GmbH + Co., Germany
The system: Azo was upto the challenge, and designed 2 special receivers that could fit in the available space on top of the tablet press. To save costs, both receivers were connected to a single vacuum pump (also supplied by Azo). System design ensured that there was no cross contamination of powder. Both the receivers were controlled from a single MCS – Azo calls this a collective feeding system.
Most pharma companies in the Fortune 500 list use Azo systems for this application. Themis Labs is another satisfied customer to join the list.
