Metal Detection |
|
|
|
| |
 |
| |
It is widely accepted that Metal Detectors are an integral part of almost all Food, Confectionery, Bakery, Snack processing and Pharmaceutical lines. LOCK sets the industry standards in metal detection. LOCK metal detectors find ferrous and non-ferrous metal particles. LOCK systems can also be used to find ferrous metals while ignoring the non-ferrous metals, to indicate when there is iron contamination in the product. For over 50 years LOCK has supplied metal detectors to customers worldwide, providing reliable detection, day after day, in products as diverse as biscuits, chocolates, raw meat and prescription drugs. |

Automatic Set-up: The Met 30+ will automatically calibrate for bulk and packaged products as they pass through the system. In this way, optimum performance is ensured and the risk of products being falsely rejected is reduced. No manual setting up of product is required.
100 Product Memory: The Met 30+ has the ability to store up to 100 different product settings in its memory. Once a product is set-up, the operator needs to only select the correct name of the product. All other details for that product (including reject parameters) are retrieved from the memory.
Automatic Product Tracking: Conductive products often vary in effect on the detector during the course of production. The Met 30+ continuously updates the currently selected product compensation settings so as to ensure optimum sensitivity.
Metalised Film: The Met 30+ provides the automatic facility for switching to a Metalised Film Detector to suit products packaged in this material.
Security Codes: Three levels of selectable security codes are provided to restrict menu access to appropriate levels for operator, supervisor and engineer.
RS232/422/485 Datalink & 300 Event Storage: Allows printing of reject reports, networking with PC and Quality Assurance information. Printing can be On Event or On Demand. Detector has the capability to store 300 events in memory.
Lock Datacheck Management System: The Met 30+ incorporates option for remote monitoring of detector performance either individually or as part of a group of detectors.
Membrane Keypad System: The Membrane option offers the user a highly dependable detector which is rugged in harsh environments.
Touchscreen System: Met 30+ detectors may be equipped with a large touchscreen display using state-of-the-art technology. The Touchscreen uses a bright sunlight-readable Electroluminescent (EL) screen. The operating software has been diligently designed to deliver a user-friendly series of menu screens and will display Lock’s unique ADC graphic technology which acts as a ‘window to the detection envelope’, providing operational and maintenance staff with a powerful on-screen diagnostic tool to optimize metal-detection performance.
Virtual Engineer & Modem Support: Provides detailed product ‘signal’ analysis to ensure optimal performance levels. The Met 30+ can also be linked through a modem to Lock service centre for immediate troubleshooting and support.
General Sensitivity: Sensitivity estimates in general are available for different aperture sizes. However actual value for given products can be specified after in-house product testing.
Fail-Safe Reject Options: Lock can deliver a complete range of reject mechanisms to suit all applications. Some of the options available are Airblast Reject, Pusher Reject, Diverter Arm Reject, Lift Flap Reject, Driven Drop Flap Reject, Retracting Band Reject and so on, to name a few.
Status Indicator Lights: These lights indicate the status of the detector, i.e. if the detector is working normally, or metal contamination has been detected, or if Sample Test is due, or the detector has malfunctioned and has gone into permanent reject mode.
Test Prompt Warning Facility: The Met 30+ prompts the operators to perform validation tests at regular intervals (as required by the Quality Control Personnel.) If such tests are not performed within the stipulated time, the machine goes into the Fail-Safe mode indicating that the required tests have not been performed.
Throughput Speeds: A Conveyor Belt speed of 5 m/min. upwards is available as standard for a Met 30+. Lower speeds can be accommodated depending upon the application. In the case of Pharmaceutical Metal Detectors for tablets, a throughput of as high as 30,000 tablets per minute can be achieved.
Easy Clean Design: The Met 30+ can be easily cleaned without much downtime.

Met 30 + |
| |
This detector is used when the product is in the form of individual pieces (biscuits, chocolate bars etc.) It is also used for product packed in packets, pouches, sachets etc. |
| |
Apart from the standard features mentioned above some additional features available are: |
| |
|
| |
hf Option:
High Frequency detection is another feature developed by Lock for its established Met 30+ Metal Detector.
hf detector employs a single high frequency, crystal controlled oscillator at 875 Khz. This is four times more than standard detectors within the industry. Designed primarily for snack food and bakery industries, the unit will inspect dry foods such as biscuits or crisps. The Met 30+ hf eliminates the need to reconfigure the settings for each product, reducing downtime whilst increasing efficiency and operating speeds.
3f Option:
Triple Frequency detection is the other feature developed by Lock for its established Met 30+ Metal Detector.
The Met 30+ 3f detector operates at three crystal tuned frequencies - Low, Medium and High. The detector's automatic Frequency selection facility will choose the optimum frequency for the application in hand. For example, when inspecting dry biscuits, the detector will automatically select high frequency, whereas for a product wrapped in metalised film, it will operate at low frequency.
Sizes: A full range of various aperture sizes is available depending on application and product. |

| |
Pharmaceutical Metal Detectors |
| |
Lock has 2 models for the pharmaceutical application:
 |
 |
| To detect contamination in tablets |
To detect contamination in pharmaceutical powders. |
Both the detectors offer exceptionally high sensitivity and are capable of detecting Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and the elusive (extremely hard to detect) Stainless Steel. Contamination in the form of Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and Stainless Steel is detected and also rejected for both the models.
Apart from the standard features mentioned above some additional features available are:
CFR Part-11: Setting the industry standards in metal detection and being one-step ahead of the rest, LOCK has designed a user-friendly industrial PC panel incorporating the CFR Part 11. According to GMP guidelines, the bespoken Windows based software allows Pharmaceutical companies to comply fully with Part 11. The software enables metal detection systems to deliver accurate inspection of tablets, capsules and granules. It implements security access controls, user identification, audit trials, electronic records and signatures, so in the event of contamination, batches can be traced and accounted for .
Sealed Reject Valve : Lock has produced a completely sealed detection and reject system for fine Pharmaceutical Powders. Until now there has not been a completely sealed unit available for a dust free production environment. Lock's perfectly sealed valve is a fast acting device and is made from SS. It has a quick release mechanism and can withstand high temperature, washing and sterilization.
